Three things to settle before you hang anything

Measure the run, then add the lead-in

The length on the box usually includes the cable from the plug. Measure the span you want lit and allow for the reach to a socket.

A weather rating covers rain, not standing water

Outdoor sets survive a shower. Connectors sitting in a puddle are a different problem, and no rating covers that.

Connectable has a limit

Sets that join state how many runs may be linked. Going past that number is how a run fails at the first joint.
